6"x6" oil on gesso board "Too good to eat"

Over the weekend I found myself with one lone honey crisp apple. I saved it for last because it was the prettiest of all the honey crisps I got on sale at the local Reasor's. So I decided to do a little photo shoot with it before eating. It's gone now. :)

5"x7" oil on gesso board "Lemon #1"

Good day! I have been so busy with my kitchen floor demo that I haven't had the chance to sit down and paint. Let me tell you, it is good to be back. I realized when I started this blog earlier this month that it would be difficult to maintain daily. I try not to be too hard on myself for skipping a day or few.

This is my first lemon painting. I really like the way the shadow is not only cast on the ground, but also so subtly on the wall. Thank you for supporting me on my journey. Your words of encouragement mean everything to me.

6"x6" oil on gesso board "Tulip #1"

I had to repaint my tulip I did yesterday because...OCD. I really do need to learn my flower species better if I am going to be painting them. I feel like painting flowers has as much to do with suggestive and well thought out brush strokes as it does color.

6"x6" oil on gesso board "Tulip after a soft rain"

This is another painting from my weekend at Utica Square. I suppose this tulip had opened up after the rain we got this week. I'm definitely needing to practice on these flowers. They sure are fun to paint.

6"x6" oil on gesso board "Tulip in the square #1"

Happy daylight savings time!

Have you been to Utica Square yet to check out the beautiful tulips? I was there this weekend having coffee with friends and snapped a few photos for my inspiration this week. This particular painting is a very impressionistic interpretation of the tulip. I just wanted to experiment with heavy amount of paint and visible brushstrokes.

I hope you like this series.

I don't recall why, but last night I started demoing my kitchen tile. Instantly I regret this decision as now I have a full time commitment to a job, daily painting, and finishing my floors. Two of which I have little to no experience!

Needless to say, it is going to be a busy few days for me and I have a lot of painting ideas I want to share with you. Thank you for stopping by today. Make the most of your day, friends. I appreciate you so much.

Happy weekend!
